Adding powder directly to wine can be done provided slow even distribution and sufficient agitation. Avoid developing clumps or creating excessive dust. As all trū/tan blends are hydro-soluble, it is not necessary to mix the tannin powder in wine or water prior to addition. However, creating a mix prior to addition is recommended. Dissolve one-part trū/tan into 20 parts warm water or wine stirring continuously. If temperatures are very low, warm water mixed with wine can help dissolve the tannins. Slowly pour in or venturi solution to wine or must while mixing. After adding tannins, allow 2-3 weeks for any solids to settle out before filtration and bottling.
Note: Dose rate depends on when it is applied and desired results. Winemaker style and grape source impact addition rate. Please refer to the application guide and your salesperson. Bench trials are suggested. For best results during bench trials, dose wine at desired rate, mix gently, and let sit in limited headspace vessel for 12-24 hours before tasting. *Increase dose with increased botrytis infection.
